Tash-Rabat is an ancient structure located in the southern part of the At-Bashy Range, in the border area with China. It holds historical significance as one of the key parts of the ancient Great Silk Road. According to different theories, the construction is believed to be a caravanserai, a monastery for Nestorian or Buddhist monks, or a fortress built by Muhammad Khan, one of the rulers of the Turko-Mongol state that existed after the disintegration of the Mongol Empire. The purpose of the structure changed with variations in the Silk Road routes, religious influences, and changes in rulers.

This unique building, almost square in shape, stands at an altitude of 3100 meters above sea level and features a classical arch and corner watchtowers with magnificent views and protection from the surrounding Tien Shan Mountains. The impressive structure consists of long corridors connecting rooms of different sizes and significance, leading to a central hall. Daylight enters through small openings in the ceiling, while the other rooms remain in darkness. Two dungeons, recesses in the ground for prisoners, are also present—one where a prisoner could only sit and the other where they could only stand.

Tash-Rabat is a culturally and historically significant monument and is protected by the state.

In the same area, there are rocks known as the Dragon's Teeth in the local folklore. Their distinct outlines against the sky showcase the grandeur of nature and leave no doubt about the need to capture their mysterious forms.

The climate of the region is suitable for the habitat of numerous animals, insects, and unique birds. The diversity and rarity of these species, some of which are listed in the Red Book, attract not only nature enthusiasts but also scientists, zoologists, and biologists. It is a special haven for birdwatchers, as it is home to species such as the wallcreeper, yellow-breasted tit, black-bellied sandgrouse, white-capped pigeon, red-billed chough, as well as predatory birds like falcons and golden eagles, not to mention scavenger birds—nature's sanitation workers.

Curious ground squirrels, acting as sentinels, accompany every visitor with their inquisitive eyes, transmitting information about the arrival and the abundance of treats to their fellow kin through whistling sounds.

The location is best visited from June to September when tourists have the opportunity to stay overnight in guesthouses or, even better, experience the nomadic way of life in yurts for a deeper immersion into the lifestyle of the nomads. Watching the sunrise, feeling the transition from the cool night breeze to the warm and cozy air, enjoying a cup of hot tea from a samovar while admiring the vastness and generosity of the land, observing the passing clouds, and inhaling the scent of moist earth—all these experiences make the visit truly memorable.

Furthermore, from this location, there is a trekking route to Lake Chatyr-Kul, which is located on the border with China. This journey offers unforgettable impressions of the natural beauty and the interplay between the flora, fauna, legends, and the wisdom of the world.
