From forested gorges and the shores of Issyk-Kul to the remote high-mountain lakes of Son-Kul and Kel-Suu, this journey takes you deep into Kyrgyzstan’s nature and nomadic way of life. Itinerary
Our journey begins with a walk in Ala-Archa National Park, along forest trails beside a rushing mountain river with views of snow-capped peaks. Continuing east, we stop at Burana Tower, where ancient stone balbals still show remarkably expressive faces; your guide will share the legends of this Silk Road site. In the afternoon, enjoy a 2-hour horse ride in the green Chon-Kemin Valley. Dinner and overnight at a cosy guesthouse.

We drive along the northern shore of Issyk-Kul to Semenov Gorge, an easy walk through spruce forests and green meadows past rushing streams and shepherds’ yurts. We then continue to Karakol, visiting the wooden Holy Trinity Cathedral and the Dungan Mosque, built in Chinese style without a single nail. Dinner at a local café.

After breakfast we head along the quiet southern shore of Issyk-Kul. In Jeti-Oguz Valley, see the famous red rock formations, the Seven Bulls and the Broken Heart, and hear the legends behind their names. Next comes Barskoon Gorge, then Skazka Canyon, where wind has sculpted the colourful rocks into fairy-tale shapes. A short hike, then on to the village of Bokonbaevo.

The morning begins with a golden eagle hunting demonstration by a local berkutchi, a living nomadic tradition. After a walk in Aksay Canyon, we climb into the high mountains to Son-Kul, a vast alpine lake surrounded by summer pastures where shepherd families live with their herds. Evening and overnight in a yurt.

We descend from Son-Kul to Naryn, where we switch to a 4x4 vehicle for the mountain roads ahead. The drive to Kek-Kiya village follows one of the most scenic routes in the country, through remote valleys close to the Chinese border.

To reserve your spot, a 20% deposit is required. The remaining balance can be paid either 3 weeks before the tour or in cash upon arrival.

On Day 6, you will need to bring lunch boxes with you.
