Itinerary
Departure from Bishkek towards Chon-Kemin.
Distance — 152 km. Travel time — approximately 2.5 hours.
Visit to Ala-Archa National Park (40 minutes - 1 hour drive from Bishkek)
Excursion to the beautiful Ala-Archa National Park, located in a scenic mountain gorge.
Enjoy a short walk along mountain forest trails surrounded by fresh alpine air, a crystal-clear river with rapids, and breathtaking views of snow-capped peaks.

We depart early in the morning from Karakol and drive to Karakol Gorge (approximately 30 minutes) to reach the trailhead. Upon arrival, we meet the team, prepare our backpacks, and begin the hike.
The route follows a scenic river valley, and after 2–2.5 hours of easy hiking we stop for lunch by a small lake. After lunch, we continue up the valley before turning left to ascend toward Kurgak-Tor (Dry Gorge). This section becomes steeper, passing through dense forest and climbing the mountainside to our campsite at 3000 m, which takes about 2 hours.
The total distance to the campsite is 13–14 km and takes approximately 4–5 hours. We spend the night in tents near Orphan’s Shelter, where a hut can be used as a kitchen and dining area in case of bad weather.
Stay in yurt camps (5 people in one yurt)

On the second day, we begin with a gradual 2–3 hour ascent to Ala-Kol Lake (3532 m). After a short rest and snack while enjoying views of the turquoise lake and the surrounding snow-capped peaks, we continue along the northern shore toward the far end of the lake.
From there, we ascend to Ala-Kol Pass (3860 m), which offers panoramic views of the Terskey Ala-Too range, with peaks rising above 5000 m. The descent from the pass is steep but relatively short. After about 30–40 minutes of descent, we reach our campsite at around 3400 m.

After breakfast, we descend through the gorge to the Altyn-Arashan hot springs (2500 m). The hike takes approximately 2–3 hours, covering a distance of 10 km.
Upon arrival, we have lunch followed by time to relax in the natural hot springs. Afterward, there is an opportunity to explore other thermal springs located along the river and among the rocks in the gorge.
A vehicle will meet us in Altyn-Arashan and transfer us back to Karakol.

On the way, visit the famous Jety-Oguz Valley, known for its striking red sandstone formations. See the legendary rocks called “Seven Bulls” and “Broken Heart.” Your guide will share the fascinating local legends explaining how these dramatic formations received their names.
Continue to Barskoon Gorge, where you will visit one of its beautiful waterfalls surrounded by forested mountain slopes and enjoy the fresh mountain air.
Next stop is the canyon “Skazka” (Fairytale Canyon). The canyon received its name because of its unusual rocky landscape, which over many years has been shaped by wind and erosion into fantastic sculptures, towers, and formations resembling castles and mythical creatures. Here you will take a short hike and enjoy the colorful scenery.
